Saturday morning, we had the pleasure and privilege of vaccinating 338 CVFP patients from all across the region! While we had originally planned on vaccinating upwards of 900 patients Saturday, we only received 100 doses and supplemented our supply with 200 more from our local partner, Centra. As you have likely seen in the news, there is a limited quantity of vaccines being allocated to healthcare providers, and we believe this limited supply will continue through February.
We are taking every effort to provide communication to our patients and community, as this fluid situation evolves. Our COVID hotline (434-321-5545), website, in-office signage, and patient portals are being updated as quickly as new information develops. In addition to our patient rosters, we have also added the feature of a waitlist to enroll patients actively seeking the vaccine. Patients do NOT have to sign up for the waitlist, rather it is another tool for us to utilize to mass communicate & schedule patients with texting capabilities as the vaccines become readily available.
Please bear with us, as we are attempting to schedule and administer vaccines as quickly as we receive them. While we recognize the current Phase VA is in, we have to do our best to prioritize the delivery of these vaccines. CVFP has over 28,000 patients that are 65 and over. Getting 300-500 doses per week is clearly not enough to meet the current demand. As we continue to receive vaccines and information, we will continue to keep you posted! In the meantime, we celebrate the small wins and privilege we have to vaccinate as we are able!
